Superior General

The Superior General is elected by the General Chapter for a period of 6 years. As the father of the entire Congregation he exercises personal authority as well as ecclesiastical jurisdiction. He governs the Congregation according to its Constitutions and their spirit. Serving the whole Community by means of canonical visitations and frequent personal contact, he is the principal promoter of unity, fruitful common life and fidelity to the Gospel and to the charism of the Congregation.

            Fr. Paul S. Voisin, C.R., was born on August 14, 1951 in Kitchener.  He finished his secondary education at St. Jerome’s High School, Kitchener, where he came into contact with the Resurrectionists.  After high school he entered the formation program of the Congregation of the Resurrection at Resurrection College, Waterloo, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Waterloo (St. Jerome’s).  After his novitiate and First Vows, he began theological studies at St. Peter’s Seminary, London, receiving a Masters of Divinity from the University of Western Ontario.  Fr. Paul made his Perpetual Vows and was ordained to the Diaconate on March 25, 1977, and ordained to the Priesthood on May 14, 1977.

            His first pastoral assignment was Associate Pastor, St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Kitchener, and then St. Pius X Parish, Brantford.  From August 1983 until April 1996 Fr. Paul was assigned to the Resurrectionist Bolivian Missions.  He served as Associate Pastor, and later Pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Parish, La Paz. For three years he lived in Cochabamba as Director of Formation for Resurrectionist seminarians.  For five years he was General Director of ‘Colegio St. Andrew’s’ a K-12 Catholic school in La Paz.  

After a sabbatical year at Regis College, Toronto, Fr. Paul became Pastor of the Hispanic Catholic Communities of Waterloo, Wellington and Brant counties for three years.  In November 2000 he was named Pastor of St. Francis Parish, Kitchener.  As Pastor and Dean of the Waterloo Region he shared in many activities at School and Board levels.  On March 1, 2005 he began to serve as Provincial Superior of the Ontario-Kentucky Province of the Congregation of the Resurrection.  In August 2008 he was assigned as Pastor of St. Patrick’s Parish in Bermuda and Vicar General of the Diocese.  In August 2012 he became the Rector of St. Theresa’s Cathedral.  On June 15, 2017, he was elected and installed as Superior General of the Congregation of the Resurrection.
